The aussie band released its debut album ‘When the Storm Would Come’ in Australia and in the United Kingdom last July. Easily one of the best albums in the “Guitar Music world” in 2015 with its melodies, catchy guitar sounds and lyrics. On this full lenght LP you can hear influences from Pink Floyd, Florence & the Machine combined with an unique sound that created this little relatively unknown gem.
Straight outta North London! Wolf Alice come from a huge 2015 for an independent (Dirty Hit Records) alternative rock. The debut album, one of the best in the last five years, ‘My Love is Cool’ charted at #2 in the UK Chart, was nominated for the Mercury Prize and the song “Moaning Lisa Smile” is nominated for the “Best Rock Performance” at the GRAMMYs. Plus the british band is nominated at the NME Awards in the ‘Best British Band’, ‘Best Live Band’ and ‘Best Album’ categories, among others. If you are looking for heavy guitars but also more intimate sounds Wolf Alice is a new exciting band for you.
Punk-Rock music went back in the Top 10 with Slaves‘ debut album in the United Kingdom. The duo from Kent became a “festival favourite” in England and headlined a show at the O2 Academy Brixton in London. ‘Are You Satisfied?’, released through Virgin EMI Records, was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Guitar riffs, “social observation”, as they said, on their lyrics and a punk attitude.
Urban Strangers is a duo from Italy that quickly became “mainstream” after appearing on The X Factor Italy (they eventually arrived second). Their first single “Runaway” charted at #1 (gold disc) over Adele while at the end of the talent show their first album (4 covers played on The X Factor and 6 original songs) has been released. Besides some difficulties with the english pronunciation the duo demonstrated that the mainstream and the underground music can live in the same artist.
