If you already don’t know January is over… I know, I’m pretty late, I guess. Anyway, here’s my favourite 5 albums from the first month of 2015. Give them a listen!
1. Pond – “Man It Feels Like Space Again” (Full review coming soon)
Label: Caroline Records
Genre: Psychedelic Rock
Lenght: 45:08 (9 tracks)
Best track: “Man It Feels Like Space Again”
Recommended for: Tame Impala’s fans.
Ray Watson from the Tame Impala has joined forces with the former Tame Impala bandmate Nick Allbrook for this record. Lonerism influence is pretty clear and Kevin Parker helped the Pond producing this LP. If you love Tame Impala you can’t miss this album.
2. Verdena – “Endkadenz Vol. 1”
Yes, they’re italian and you probably can’t understand the lyrics. But they’re pretty good though. This is their sixth studio album and they’re planning to release the Volume 2 this summer. Trust me, give them a listen.
Two Gallants’ 5th studio album is probably better than “The Bloom and the Blight”, their last album released in 2012. The duo made up of Adam Stephens and Tyson Vogel from San Francisco is doing well and songs like “We Are Undone”, “Some Trouble”, which sounds a little bit like The Black Keys, and “My Man Go” are the proof.
4. Mark Ronson – “Uptown Special” (Full Review here)
Genre: Funk, R&B.
Lenght: 38:39 (11 tracks)
Best track: “Summer Breaking” ft. Kevin Parker
The first single from this LP is literally stealing the scene from the other songs of the album. “Uptown Funk” is indeed the biggest hit of 2015 so far and features Bruno Mars. Anyway this Uptown Funk gave the opportunity to Mark Ronson to have his first #1 album in the UK and Top 5 album in the USA.
A critically acclaimed album, Pitchfork rated it 8.5/10 and that review gave a little bit of popularity to this canadian band. It’s their debut album and some people are already waiting the next one. You may like it or not, but it’s worth the listen.
